Girls Basketball: Goodhue gets four seed, opens with Ada-Borup

Playing in its first state tournament since 2011, the Goodhue girls basketball team was picked as the No. 4 seed in the Class 1A state tournament on Saturday.

At 1 p.m. Thursday at Mariucci Arena at the University of Minnesota, the top-ranked Wildcats (25-5) will face off with No. 5 seed Ada-Borup. The Section 6A champion Cougars are 28-1 this year and advanced to state after beating West Central Area 55-31 in the section final on Friday.

Here is a breakdown of the Class 1A tournament: 

Quarterfinals (all games Thursday at Mariucci Arena)

Game 1: Browerville vs. No. 1 Minneota, 11 a.m.

Game 2: No. 5 Ada-Borup vs. No. 4 Goodhue, 1 p.m.

Game 3: Mankato Loyola vs. No. 2 Maranathan Christian Academy, 3 p.m.

Game 4: Win-E-ac vs. No. 3 Mountain Iron-Buhl, 5 p.m.

Semifinals (all games Friday at Williams Arena)

Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, noon

Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner, 2 p.m.

Class 1A state championship game is at noon Saturday at Williams Arena.
