Girls Basketball: Z-M ends losing skid

Zumbrota-Mazeppa snapped a seven-game losing streak on Friday after picking up a 58-38 win over Section 1AA foe St. Charles in Zumbrota.

“We came out to a 19-7 lead and we were never really threatened from there,” said Cougars’ head coach Scott Paukert. “It was good to take care of business and end this skid.”

Carley Henning was Z-M’s scorer with 15 points. Hailey Dykes had 11 points and six rebounds, and Molly Lawler added 12 points. Kalli Paukert came up with eight points, six assists and six rebounds, and Alyssa Quam had eight points, six rebounds and five assists in the victory.

The Saints were led by Abby Ludens’ 15 points.

The Cougars (4-9, 2-7 HVL) heads to Cannon Falls on Friday.
