Wrestling: Lake City falls to one of the state's best

Andrew Schmidt earned an 11-2 major decision over Alex Bernard, but that stood as the only competitive victory for Lake City in a 62-10 Hiawatha Valley League loss to Kasson-Mantorville Thursday night.

The fifth-ranked (Class 2A) KoMets picked up seven pins in the contest, with the other Tigers’ win coming at 195 pounds where Michael Noll won by forfeit.

Lake City (5-8 overall, 3-2 HVL) will host a tournament Saturday, and then welcome Byron and Kenyon-Wanamingo to Lincoln High School for a triangular Monday.
