Girls Basketball: Bombers snag third victory

It could have been a better-looking outcome, but Cannon Falls got what it wanted Tuesday night: a victory.

The Bombers, 44-42 winners over Triton, got a good all-around stat line from Courtney Woodcock. The senior center scored nine points, pulled down 10 rebounds, and registered three blocks for Cannon Falls. Hailey Huseth added six points, as did Katie Noble who also chipped in seven rebounds and two blocks. Callie Loeschke had a team-high three steals.

While those numbers were positive, one that was not for the Bombers was their collective 19-of-42 from the free throw line.

“It was a free-throw shooting contest, I would say. Unfortunately we only made 19 of them,” said Cannon Falls head coach Eric Mace. “Courtney and Katie both fouled out, but (Triton) had three foul outs. (Triton was) aggressive, like they always are. But tonight, the refs decided to call it.”

The Cobras were led by Piper Yankowiak’s 12 points, but her night ended early due to a fifth foul. Triton was just 8 of 15 from the free-throw line.

The Bombers (3-11, 1-8 HVL) will host Zumbrota-Mazeppa Friday.
