Boys Basketball: Wildcats' defense locks down Cougars

Holding Zumbrota-Mazeppa to 39 percent shooting, as well as forcing 16 turnovers, Goodhue’s defense was the key for the Wildcats’ 64-34 Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division win Tuesday in Goodhue.

Three Goodhue players – Jacob Pasch (11 points), Riley Bollum (10) and Tyler Schumacher (10) – finished in double figures as the team shot 54 percent from the field. Schumacher also had six of the team’s 12 steals.

The Cougars’ Jacob Ugland led all scorers with 15 points, while teammate Kurt Gadient had eight in the loss.

Goodhue (10-7, 4-7 HVL) is on the road Thursday at Pine Island while Z-M (4-11, 2-9 HVL) plays host to Cannon Falls Friday.
