Ellsworth hoop teams sweep Pine City, girls get first win

PINE CITY, Minn. - The Ellsworth High School girls basketball won its first game of the 2013-14 season 54-32 Saturday over Pine City.

It was part of a varsity doubleheader sweep for the Panthers. Ellsworth's boys team clobbered Pine City 90-31 for its second straight win in 24 hours.

EHS was led by Will Huppert's 20 points while Kyle Murphy and Emery Whalen both scored 14 points. 

The boys team improves to 6-4 overall while the girls' team is 1-8 overall, The win also snaps a 10-game losing streak going back into last season.

The boys team is at home Tuesday vs. Prescott while the EHS girls will also be in action Tuesday at Baldwin-Woodville.
