Wrestling: Lake City takes fourth at P-E-M Invite

Michael Noll pinned Byron’s Matt Hintz 1 minute, 33 seconds into their 195-pound title match. Noll also had a 19-4 technical fall in the semifinals after receiving a first-round bye in the Plainview-Elgin-Millville Invitational held Saturday.

Three other Tigers also appeared in championship rounds. Kevin McGinley (120) lost 10-3 to Eau Claire North’s Tyler Deacon while Andrew Schmidt (138) was pinned by Waseca’s Tristan Hoy 3:26 into the championship match. Andrew Denzer also saw his day come to an end in the championship, falling by pin to Winona’s George Weege at 3:18.

Ryan Hanson (145), Cole Atkinson (152), Derek Bremer (160) and Peter Tazin (170) placed fourth.

The host Bulldogs won the eight-team tournament with 192.5 points, followed by Byron (168.5), Eau Claire North (152.0), Lake City (149.5) and Waseca (145.0).

The Tigers will welcome Kenyon-Wanamingo and Byron Thursday for a Hiawatha Valley League triangular.
