Boys Basketball: Z-M sneaks past Dover-Eyota

Climbing back from a 28-22 halftime deficit, Zumbrota-Mazeppa won its third game of the year by the slimmest of margins, knocking off Dover-Eyota 57-56 Thursday in Dover.

Leading the Cougars to the victory was Ellis Hirman, who shot 7 of 12 from the field and 12 of 15 from the free-throw line for 26 points. He also had 11 rebounds and four steals. Jacob Ugland also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Kurt Gadient finished with eight points and four rebounds in the victory.

Ben Hintz led of trio of Eagle scorers in double digits with 15, while Brandon Jech and Thomas Pankonin had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Z-M (3-8) resumes Hiawatha Valley League play Friday at Kasson-Mantorville.
