Wrestling: Lake City seventh at Farmington

The Farmington Koda Classic dual tournament featured some good teams. Lake City experienced firsthand the depth of the field Saturday as the Tigers finished the day 1-3, good for seventh place.

Lake City opened Pool B with a 53-13 loss to Milaca, then followed with a 63-3 defeat at the hands of Chatfield. Bloomington Kennedy closed the book on the Tigers with a 42-26 win.

Facing Northfield in the seventh-place match, Brendon Allen (113 pounds), Carl Kozlowski (120) and Matt Woodind (126) put Lake City up 15-3 through four matches, with pins from Kozlowski and Wooding. Cole Atkinson and Andrew Denzer also scored pinfalls for the Tigers, while Andrew Schmidt and Derek Bremer won via major decisions to clinch the 41-30 win over the Raiders.

Lake City will hit the road Thursday, along with Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson, for a triangular with Plainview-Elgin-Millville. The Tigers will return to P-E-M Saturday for an invitational with nine other schools.
