Girls Basketball: Goodhue reaches Rotary tourney finals

Goodhue routed Hiawatha Valley League foe Rochester Lourdes 65-30 on Friday, earning a spot in the championship game of the Rochester Rotary Tournament.

Starting the game 10 of 14 from the field, the Wildcats (9-2) jumped out to a 38-8 halftime lead and never looked back.

“You name it, we were doing it well in the first half,” said Goodhue head coach Josh Wieme. “Defensively, we had great stops one after another, and that carried over on the offensive end. We had great passes, great vision and the looks we got were great looks.”

Kali Ryan led the charge with 16 points, while Shelby Hinsch and Mikayla Miller each had 13 points. Michelle Hadler and Meredith Watson each had eight points, with Watson grabbing nine rebounds.

At 8:15 p.m. today, the fourth-ranked (1A) Wildcats set their sights on White Bear Lake for the tournament title. The Bears (8-0) are the No. 7 team in Class 4A.
