Football: Cannon Falls can't keep up with Rochester Lourdes

Hunter Johnson scored once on the ground and once through the air, and Jordan Lundell ran the opening kickoff back 87 yards for a score, but Cannon Falls could not stop second-ranked Rochester Lourdes, falling 40-20 in Wednesday’s Southern Football Alliance Red Division finale.

After Lundell’s kick return, Lourdes scored four straight times before Johnson hit Alex Bultena for a 15-yard score. Johnson then scored on 7-yard run early in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles added two more scores to close the game.

Johnson finished 18 of 35 for 236 yards with two touchdowns. Brock Peterson led the Bombers with 113 yards receiving on five catches, while Lundell added five receptions and 58 yards. Bultena totaled 60 yards on seven catches.

Cannon Falls (2-6) will now await Thursday’s seeding results to see where and whom they will play in the Section 1AAA playoffs.
