Cross-Country: Ellsworth eighth, 30th at Black River Falls

Kelsey Betthauser led the Ellsworth girls cross-country team to an eighth-place finish at the Black River Falls invitational Tuesday. Betthauser ran the 4-kilometer race in 18 minutes, 57 .83 seconds, good for 17th place.

Payton Bjorkman (20:11.57) took 37th for the Panthers, while teammate Kim Hudson (20:20.28) placed 42nd.

Taylor Miller of Mauston placed first individually with a time of 16:09.84, more than a minute ahead of the rest of the field. Mauston won the team portion of the event as wee with 31 total points. Ellsworth totaled 202 points.


Carter Schutz paced the Ellsworth boys with a time of 19:34.62 in the 5-kilometer run, good for 30th place.

The Panthers competed with only four runners, so they were not involved in the final team standings. West Salem took top honors with 28 points, though Mauston’s Adam Kramer won the race with a time of 17:08.64.
