Girls Soccer: PIZM edged by Rochester Lourdes

The Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa girls soccer team had chances in bunches, but could not capitalize in a 1-0 Hiawatha Valley League loss to Rochester Lourdes Thursday night.

Summer Cavallaro had five saves for the Wildcats while PIZM threw 16 shots on net. The Eagles managed just two shots in the second half, but one found the back of the net after a scrum in front of Cavallaro 15 minutes into the half.

“Our girls played a solid game, they just stuck one in the net and we didn’t. We had our chances and didn’t finish,” said PIZM head coach Doug Weincouff.

The Wildcats (4-4-1) will participate in the Dover-Eyota Invitational Saturday, then host Plainview-Elgin-Millville Monday.
