Girls Tennis: Bombers can't knock off ranked Lourdes

Cannon Falls was able to tally a pair of wins against fourth-ranked Rochester Lourdes, but the Eagles ultimately came away with the 5-2 victory Thursday in Cannon Falls.

Both Bomber wins came in singles as Maddie Adel and Grace Rutter won in No. 2 and 4, respectively. Adel picked up a 6-3, 7-5 victory against Lourdes’ Rachel Kamath, and Rutter overcame a first-set loss to Anna Clayton to win 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

“I thought we played better in some spots this time around (against Lourdes),” said Cannon Falls head coach Paul Norstad. “Maddie picked up a good win, and Grace did a great job of coming back and playing two sets after losing that first one.”

The Bombers (8-6, 4-2 Hiawatha Valley League) head to Winona Cotter on Tuesday.
