Girls Tennis: Lake City cruises by Cotter

Facing a young team in Winona Cotter, the Lake City girls tennis team wasted little time in doing what it should do to such an inexperienced squad, trouncing the Ramblers, 6-1.

No. 1 singles player Josie Kuchinka and No. 3 singles Emily Albright both had to battle a little bit, but both were ultimately too much for their opponents. Kuchinka topped Kylie Modieski 6-2, 6-4, and Albright beat Anna Kvasova 6-3, 6-1.

At No. 4 singles, Natalie Poss blanked Arielle Nance 6-0, 6-0.

The doubles teams for Lake City really took matters into their own hands as not a single group dropped a game against Cotter. Erica Hubbard and Lidia Wallerich, Katie Coyle and Katie Johnson, and Julie Keller and Chloe McElmury all beat their counterparts 6-0, 6-0.

The Tigers (5-8-1) host New Life Academy of Woodbury Thursday before a five-day break leads into a match against Stewartville Sept. 24.
