Volleyball: Triton gets away from Lake City

A solid first set was not an indication of things to come as the Lake City volleyball team dropped a four-set Hiawatha Valley League match to Triton Thursday, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-17.

“We played great in that first game, it all gelled, and then we had moments of greatness in the other games but couldn’t get over the hump,” said Lake City head coach Kim Bobb.

Madi Green had a good night, scoring 12 kills and six ace blocks. Breanna Gates threw in nine kills and 25 digs while Megan Schramski (20 digs) and Martha Guevara (15 digs) also helped the defensive cause for the Tigers. Bailey Cronin added 21 set assists.

The Tigers (0-6) will head to the Wabasha-Kellogg tournament Saturday where they will face the 10th-ranked Falcons in the first match.
