Girls Tennis: Powerful Rochester Lourdes takes down Lake City

The Lake City girls tennis team was overwhelmed in a 7-0 loss Thursday to perennial Hiawatha Valley League and Section 1A power Rochester Lourdes.

In the most recent Class A poll, which was released Monday, the Eagles were ranked fourth in the state, and No. 1 singles player Sofia Terzic was ranked fifth. Terzic showed why against Josie Kuchinka in a 6-0, 6-0 rout.

That was how it went for the Tigers, as Lake City managed to win just two sets in the entire match. Katie Henning won her first set against Lucy Hansen, but fell in the end, 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.

Katie Coyle and Braeden McElmury took a set from Jessica Alexander and Sydney Allison in a 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-2 loss.

The Tigers (3-6-1) will face Robbinsdale Armstrong at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Rochester John Marshall Invitational.
