Boys Soccer: PIZM drops league game to Byron

Colin Rucker scored the lone goal for the Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa boys soccer team was not enough to snag a victory as the Wildcats fell 2-1 to Byron Tuesday evening.

“We played a great game tonight. Our players were moving the ball much better,” said PIZM coach Peter Wiggins. “(And we got) great play by goalie Brady Schoenfelder. I'm looking forward to the next game."

Schoenfelder faced 16 shots Tuesday, stopping 14 in the process. The Wildcats managed nine shots on goal, led by Matt Smith’s three. Six other Wildcats had one shot on goal each.

PIZM (0-4 overall, 0-2 HVL) will hit the road for each of its next three games, beginning Thursday when the Wildcats visit Lake City.
