Gymnastics: PIZM ‘off,’ still dominates

Despite not hitting on all cylinders, Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa cruised to a 140.375-121.675 victory over La Crescent on Tuesday.

“To have an off night, and still score over 140 is still pretty impressive this early in the season,” said PIZM head coach Chris Templeton.

PIZM took the top-two places in every event, including Sawyer Gorman (9.375) and Brynn Olson (9.35) on the vault, Jaci Newman (8.675) and Kenzie Cordes (8.55) on the uneven bars, Newman (9.0) and Olson (8.825) on the balance beam and Newman (9.275) and Olson (9.2) on the floor exercise.

In the all-around competition, Olson (35.875) held off Newman (35.75) for the top spot.
