Boys Golf: Wingers come up short to Northfield at home invite
In the third day of golf in as many days, the Red Wing boys’ golf team came up short of Northfield on the Wingers’ home course.
Northfield had a team score of 298 to take first place, followed by Red Wing with 305 and third-place Park with 329.
Casey Parker of Northfield was the medalist with 71. Red Wing and Northfield alternated positions throughout the top-six with Cecil Belisle taking second (72), Nate Stevens (73), Michael Stoffel (74), Danny Gill (75) and Mac DeSutter (76). Drew Siewert of Red Wing also shot 83.
The Red Wing boys’ golf team had a strong showing on Wednesday at the Eastwood Invite in Rochester on Wednesday.
The Wingers placed third with a team score of 319 — only four shots behind first-place Winona (315) and three behind second-place Rochester Mayo (316).
Cecil Belisle paced Red Wing with 71, good enough for a tie for second place. Other top finishers for Red Wing included: Luke Knudsen (79), Michael Stoffel (83) and Drew Siewert (86).
Red Wing will return home on Thursday to host an invite of its own.
The Red Wing boys' golf team hosted a Big Nine quadrangular on Tuesday and came out on top with a team score of 307.
Mankato West came in second with 313, followed by Mankato East (334) and Winona (320).
Luke Knudsen had his best round with a 73 to tie for the lead with Cecil Belisle. Rounding out the Wingers' scorers were Mac DeSutter with 79 and Michael Stoffel with 82.
