Boys Basketball: Century gets free against Red Wing
Red Wing had the advantage from the field on Friday, but Rochester Century set up shop on the free-throw line in a 73-66 victory over the Wingers.
The Panthers took a whopping 34 foul shots, and made 26. Red Wing, on the other hand, doubled-up Century in 3-pointers made, 10-5, but were sent to the line just 14 times. The Wingers' 10 made free throws made for a good percentage, but a minus-16 margin.
Leading the way offensively for Red Wing was Carson Nystuen, whose 18 points were a team high on a night that saw four Wingers hit double figures, including Tre Moore (15), Nathan Carlson (13) and Zach Cota (12). Moore also had seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
On Tuesday, the Wingers (4-11, 3-8 Big Nine) host ninth-ranked (Class AAAA) Rochester John Marshall before heading to fourth-ranked (AAA) Mankato East on Thursday, Feb. 1.
