Girls Basketball: Wingers' shooters impress in Big Nine win

Hitting 48 percent of its shots on the night while limiting Rochester Century to 17 second-half points, Red Wing got its second Big Nine Conference win of the season with an 81-48 victory over the visiting Panthers.

Tayzha Buck led the sharp-shooting Wingers with 24 points on 9 of 12 shooting, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range. She also finished with six steals and four rebounds. Abi Deming had a strong night in the paint with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists, and Kyli Nelson (13), Lindsay Reps (12) and Hannah Rodgers (10) all finished in double digits. Rodgers was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line while also hauling in 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Kiara Lindsey was Century’s lone player in double figures with 21 points. The next highest points came from Rylee Kanne with seven.

Red Wing (4-1, 2-1 Big Nine) has a pair of home games next week, with Rochester John Marshall on Tuesday and Byron on Thursday.
