Amateur Baseball: Cannon Falls splits weekend

The final game of the Josh Harrison Memorial Tournament saw the host Cannon Falls Bears give up just a pair of runs. But it was enough for Bloomington to come away with a 2-1 victory on Sunday.

Austin Jacobs pitched five innings for Cannon Falls, allowing four hits and an earned run to take a tough-luck loss.Brock Peterson and Taylor Pagel each had two hits for the Bears, with the only other Cannon Falls hit coming from Hunter Blakeslee. Zeke Williams went 0-for-1, but did drive in Cannon Falls' lone run.

Cliff Christopherson pitched all seven innings of the shortened tournament game. Christopherson walked one and struck out five.

Cannon Falls is scheduled to host Hampton on Wednesday, with a trip to Red Wing following on Sunday.

Saturday

The big inning belonged to Prescott, but Cannon Falls got the last laugh as the Bears pushed across an 11th-inning run for a 7-6 victory on Saturday in the Josh Harrison Memorial Tournament in Cannon Falls.

Levi Prestegard walked six batter over the final six innings, but allowed just one hit to pick up the win for the Bears. Prestegard took over for starter Quintin Lindow, who allowed six runs (four earned) on five hits and three walks.

Alex Tauer did not knock in a run for Cannon Falls, but his three hits and two runs were both team highs. Zeke Williams, Keith Meyers and Hunter Blakeslee each had a pair of hits for the Bears, with Blakeslee driving in three runs.

Derek Pfeffer took the loss, giving up the final three runs over 4 2/3 innings on four hits and two walks. Pfeffer was the only Pirate with more than one hit, finishing 2-for-6 at the plate.
