Volleyball: Red Wing wallops Albert Lea, falls to Faribault

Down a set, Red Wing lost a thrilling second set, but could not retain the momentum in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-17) loss to Faribault on Thursday.

Vanessa Frazier and Elle Thorson both had seven kills for the Wingers, with Macy Koester facilitating the offense with 26 assists. Frazier also added three aces and seven digs in the losing effort.

Defensively, Dani Deming led the charge with 17 digs, followed by Madisyn Lyons (11) and Koester (10). Abi Deming and Thorson both had one block.


Red Wing 3, Albert Lea 0

The long trip to Albert Lea did not nothing to take away any part of Red Wing's game as the Wingers ripped right through the Tigers, 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-11).

Madisyn Lyons had 22 kills in the win, and added five blocks, 10 digs and four aces. Macy Koester had 24 of Red Wing's 26 assists, while Dani Deming had a team-high 10 digs.
