Boys Swimming: Northfield slips by Red Wing

Red Wing could not move past the .500 mark in the Big Nine Conference after taking a 98-83 loss at Northfield on Thursday.

Ben Schaffer and William Meacham got the Wingers' individual first-place finishes. Schaffer was the winner in the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 8.86 seconds while Meacham was the top swimmer in the 100 butterfly in 54.82. Meacham also had a second-place showing in the 200 freestyle in 1:59.64.

Jayden Jech had two second-place showings in the 50 freestyle (24.24) and 500 freestyle (5:27.22) while Konner Brickey was runner-up in the 100 freestyle (56.16) and Ian Johnson was second in the 100 backstroke (1:02.35).

In the first race of the meet, the 200 medley relay, the foursome of Johnson, Schaffer, Meacham and Jech placed first in 1:46.75.

On Thursday Jan. 19, the Wingers (2-3 Big Nine) return to Twin Bluff Middle School for a conference dual meet against Austin.
