Amateur Baseball: Bears knock down Randolph, fall to Northfield

Needing just seven innings on Memorial Day, the Cannon Falls Bears beat Lake Byllesby foe Randolph for an 11-0 Classic Cannon Valley League victory at John Burch Park.

Braxton Lindow paced the Bears' offense, going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored. Luke Winchell drove in three runs while going 1-for-4, and Brock Peterson had two RBI wile going 2-for-4 at the top of Cannon Falls' lineup. Keith Meyers was 3-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored, and got the win on the mound after striking out four with three hits allowed over five innings.

Dan Pawelk was the only Railcat to get more than one hit on Cannon Falls, going 2-for-3 with a double. Dillon Sellner also hit for a double, going 1-for-3. Scott Otte was charged with the loss with 13 hits, 10 runs (all earned) and five walks allowed over five innings.

The Bears will head to the Stearns County Classic this weekend while the Railcats will take on Waterville on Wednesday.


Northfield 10, Cannon Falls 5

A seven-run third inning provided Northfield all it needed to beat Cannon Falls on Sunday for a 10-5 Classic Cannon Valley League win.

Brock Peterson and Tanner Jackson both had three hits, with Peterson scoring a run and Jackson hitting for a double. Taylor Pagel was 2-for-2 with three RBI and a pair of runs, and Braxton Lindow finished 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Ben Smith took the loss with five runs (four earned), five walks and three hits allowed with four strikeouts in two innings.
