Amateur Baseball: Cannon Falls holds off Wanamingo
A five-run sixth inning gave Cannon Falls a six-run lead, and the Bears would need nearly all of it to hold off Wanamingo on Sunday for a 10-8 victory.
The Jacks scored once in the eighth, and three times in the ninth, before a groundout ended the game with a pair of runners on base.
Keith Meyers picked up the win in relief, going 3 2/3 innings and allowing one run on three hits. Carter Dombeck started, but was pulled after three innings of work that saw Wanamingo take a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Brady Anfinson took the loss, allowing five unearned runs in five innings.
Brock Peterson had three RBI for the Bears, while Tanner Jackson knocked in two. Alex Roosen had four RBI for the Jacks with both Eric Sviggum and Aaron Holmes driving in two each.
Cannon Falls (1-2) will look to build on its first win of the season when the Bears host Zumbrota on Wednesday. Wanamingo (0-1) will attempt to get its first win on Wednesday at Waterville.
