Volleyball: Goodhue advances in four

After Rushford-Peterson put a scare into Goodhue by winning the second set of Thursday’s Section 1A-East quarterfinal match, the third-seeded Wildcats recovered to win the match in four, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19.

Goodhue’s Mikayla Tipcke was a force all around the court with 39 set assists, 22 digs, seven kills, six ace serves and two blocks. Mikayla Miller (18 digs, 17 kills, six ace serves) and Kali Ryan (eight kills, seven digs, four blocks) also wreaked havoc all around for Goodhue. Emilee Roschen had a team-high 29 digs, and Shelby Hinsch tallied 10 kills in the victory.

For the sixth-seeded Trojans, Kendra Crawford finished with 25 digs, and Kate Mackenzie put up six kills in the loss.

At 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Rochester Civic Center, the Wildcats face off with second-seeded and seventh-ranked Mabel-Canton. The Cougars advanced on Thursday with a 3-0 victory over Houston.
