Football: P-E-M throttles Lake City

Schuyler Thompson rushed five times for 105 yards and a touchdown, and had a 79-yard scoring pass to lead Plainview-Elgin-Millville over Lake City Friday night, 31-6.

Thompson put the first points on the board with a 42-yard run with nine minutes, four seconds remaining in the first quarter. After a Tanner Hofschulte 39-yard, second-quarter field goal, Thompson hit Derik Laden with a 78-yard pass to stretch the Bulldogs lead to 17 points.

The Tigers were unable to get anything going on offense as Luke Hartzell, Matt Kjos and Levi Norman combined to rush for 86 yards on 18 carries. Quarterback Reid Lundell added 20 yards on 10 carries, and was just 3 for 12 for 13 yards through the air.

P-E-M added a Tyler Jacobs seven-yard run in the third quarter before Bryce Heim closed the Bulldogs scoring night with a 15-yard rushing touchdown.

Kjos scored Lake City’s only points of the night with a five-yard run as the clock hit zero. No point after was attempted.

The Bulldogs totaled 466 yards of offense, led by Heim’s 220 yards rushing on 29 carries.

Lake City will finish the regular season Wednesday when La Crescent comes to visit the Tigers.
