Volleyball: Red Wing drops match with Hastings

Still in search of its first win in the final week of the season, Red Wing dropped to 0-19 overall as Hastings defeated the Wingers in straight sets, 25-13, 25-14, 25-9, to preserve the non-conference victory Monday in Hastings.

“We didn’t come out ready to play,” said Red Wing assistant coach Kelly Norman. “We have been focusing a lot of serve-receive lately, and last night didn’t show that.”

As a team, the Wingers finished with 12 kills.

Starting with a Missota Conference match at New Prague Thursday, followed by the Eastview Invitational Friday and Saturday in Apple Valley, Norman and the rest of the Red Wing squad hope to build some momentum with Section 1AAA play looming.

“Our biggest thing right now is performing the little things that matter,” Norman said. “Having fun and wanting to play are going to be key factors as we enter our last regular-season games.”
