BALDWIN - Ellsworth High School girls' tennis player Jordan Olson becomes the first from EHS to advance to WIAA sectionals since 2010. She did so at yesterday's Division 2 subsectional meet hosted by Baldwin-Woodville High School.

Olson won her No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-1 over Barron's Laura Crites. No. 1 singles players only need to win one match to move on to sectionals.

If she wins her first match at sectionals Wednesday in La Crosse, she will advance to the state meet next weekend in Madison.

Olson was the lone sectional qualifier for the Panthers. But her win plus those from Megan Stress at No. 2 singles and Kendra Thoen and Allyson Stoetzel at No. 3 doubles helped the Purple score six points in the meet, tying them for fourth out of nine schools competing.

The No. 1 doubles team of Rochelle Sweig and Alexis Linder won a prelim match but lost in the quarterfinals.
