Football: Tigers can't get revenge on Lourdes

Lake City had the lead against the fourth-ranked team in Class 3A in the third quarter but it didn’t last long and the Tigers weren’t able to hold on in a 27-13 SFA Red Division loss at Rochester Lourdes.

The Eagles took the first lead in the game on a 20-yard rushing score by Kane Carstens in the second quarter.

Lake City answered shortly after halftime with a 15-yard touchdown run by Reid Lundell.

The Tigers took the lead after using a 10-play, 92-yard scoring drive that resulted in a 3-yard touchdown run from Luke Hartzell.

But Rochester Lourdes ran the kickoff back 95 yards for another touchdown by Carstens to take back control of the game.

Carstens added a 62-yard rushing touchdown, and teammate Michael Brandt sealed the win with a 1-yard running score.

Elliot Cox led Lake City with 76 yards rushing, while Lundell finished with 62 yards. Lundell was also 7-for-16 passing for 49 yards. Eli Custer had three of those grabs for 36 yards.

Lake City (1-3, 0-3 SFA Red) plays host to Cannon Falls for homecoming on Friday.
