Girls Soccer: Lake City can't hold off Rochester Lourdes

A close, one-goal game at halftime turned into a Rochester Lourdes rout Thursday as the Eagles used two quick, and two late second-half goals to run away from Lake City, 5-0.

The Tigers got five shots on goal, and allowed 21. But the game stayed tight through the first 10 minutes of the second half when Lourdes scored its third goal of the game.

“They just had a good passing combination for their first goal after half. And the second one we didn’t react on a counter attack,” said Lake City head coach Mark Spence.

The Eagles also scored twice more in the final three minutes of the game to close the books on the Tigers.

“I think it was just one of those games that, at the end, it was just the way the ball bounces,” Spence said.

Lake City (1-5) plays again Monday when the Tigers host Plainview-Elgin-Millville for Parents’ Night.
