Girls Soccer: Red Wing falls to talented Shakopee

Facing a superior opponent, the Red Wing girls soccer team needed everything to go right Thursday in a Missota Conference matchup against Shakopee.

But not much went the Wingers way as the Sabers blanked Red Wing, 7-0.

“That was just a super talented team on the other side of the ball that did a lot of thing that we didn’t have an answer for,” said Wingers’ co-head coach Paul McNamee. “It says nothing about our squad, they’re just very talented. We have to just move on from this one as if it never happened.”

The Wingers (0-2-1) will take the field again Saturday for a tournament in Albert Lea. Red Wing will face the hosts at 10 a.m., then take on Fairmont at 1 p.m.
