Cross Country: Lake City boys fourth, girls third at Dover-Eyota Invite

Paced by Carl Kozlowski’s fourth-place time of 17 minutes, 3.7 seconds, the Lake City boys cross-country team placed third at the Dover-Eyota Invitational Tuesday with 81 team points.

Plainview-Elgin-Millville won the event with 41 points while second-place Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson notched 68 points.

Kozlowski was the top finisher for the Tigers, but four other Lake City runners took a spot in the top 25. Cole Willers placed 11th with a time of 17:55.4, and Colin Fritz (18:40.6) and Shane Siewert (18:41.0) placed back-to-back at 20th and 21st, respectively. Mitchell Mund took 25th with a time of 18:52.9.

The Lake City girls took second overall with 53 points, 15 shy of Dover-Eyota’s 38.

Liv Kozlowski placed fifth with a time of 16:46.0, followed by Becaa Goertzen’s 17:00.3. Sidney Renelt, 12th at 17:24.0, Lydia Taylor, 13th at 17:37.3, and Hannah Alitz, 14th at 17:42.3, rounded out the scoring for the Tigers.

Lake City will host 13 other schools Tuesday at Hok-si-la Community Park for the Lake City Invitational.
