Amateur Baseball: Red Wing breezes past Randolph

It didn’t take the Red Wing Aces long to impose their will on Randolph on Sunday.

Opening the game with a 1-0 lead, Red Wing tacked on eight runs in the bottom of the second inning, cruising to an 18-2 seven-inning Classic Cannon Valley League shellacking in Randolph.

The Aces tallied 16 runs in the victory, led by Mike Stegora’s 4-for-4 outing. Stegora also had a double, a run scored and three RBI. Adam Thygesen and Zach Garner each finished with three hits as Thygesen had three RBI and three runs scored, and Garner had two doubles and four runs scored.

Up 10-2 after three innings, Red Wing added three runs in the fourth and five in the fifth to put the game out of reach for the Railcats.

On the mound, Tyler Goering went five innings for the Aces, striking out five and allowing just four Randolph hits for the victory. Aaron Johnson went two innings in relief.

TJ Nordling was the top hitter for Randolph, going 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Red Wing (14-4, 5-2 CCVL) is on the road Tuesday for a Section 1B matchup with Elko.
