Softball: Tigers' season ends against Cotter

Looking to play spoiler in the Section 1AA-East playoffs, eighth-seeded Lake City took a 1-0 lead in the second inning over the top-seeded team in the sub-section, Winona Cotter.

"I think we kind of surprised them a little bit; we came out and played real well," said Tigers head coach Mike Johnson.

"But we had that one inning of doom and that took us out of it."

The Ramblers took a 3-1 lead in the third, then tacked on eight in the bottom of the fourth before coming away with an 11-1 victory in five innings Monday in Winona.

Katie Nachtigal struck out seven for cotter, holding Lake City to seven hits, two walks and one run for the complete-game victory. On offense, Hannah Spiten led the Ramblers, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. With the victory, Cotter will take on La Crescent on Wednesday.

Liz Lee took the loss for the Tigers, giving up 10 hits and 11 runs (nine earned).

Lake City ends the season with a 1-18 record.
