Girls Golf: Red Wing clinches 2nd in Missota

The Red Wing girls golf team secured a second-place finish in the Missota Conference after placing second at the conference championship meet Monday at the Chaska Town Course.

Finishing with a team score of 341, the Wingers finished just behind Missota champion New Prague, which had 338. Chaska, Chanhassen and Northfield rounded out the top five.

"It was a solid match for us," said Red Wing head coach Mark Herzog. "It was a little windy there today, but I was pleased with how our girls played today."

Leading the Wingers was junior Nicole Schammel, who finished with a 79. Reagan Haley tallied an 84, and Stephanie Herzog carded an 86.

"Nicole was really solid for the whole round," Mark Herzog said, "and Reagan made a lot of good shots today."

Maddie Flack rounded out the team score with a 92. Kayla Oberding had a 96, and Solveig Christenson completed her round with a 105.

Stephanie Herzog and Schammel took All-Missota Conference honors after finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the conference standings. Haley, Christenson and Flack were named All-Missota honorable mentions.
