Softball: Goodhue fizzles on the road
Goodhue played away games at separate locations Monday and neither was particularly friendly to the Wildcats.
Facing Byron on the road in its first game of the day, Goodhue fell 15-2 in five innings and after hopping back on the bus to take on Rochester Lourdes, the Wildcats lost 17-1 in five innings.
The Bears scored nine runs in the first inning against Goodhue and finished with 15 hits in the victory. Vanessa Anderson went 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored to lead Byron.
Ashlyn Stecklein was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Bailey Kreisler went 1-for-2 with a run scored for the Wildcats.
Goodhue was the home team against Lourdes but committed six errors and gave up 10 hits in the loss.
The Wildcats only run was unearned in the fourth inning. Paige Gadient was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored in the loss.
Kelly Bier threw all five innings for the Eagles and did not allow a hit while striking out 11. Grace Rogers finished 3-for-4 with five RBI for Lourdes.
Goodhue will be the home team on the road again Tuesday against Zumbrota-Mazeppa.
