Softball: Pepin-Alma suffers setback

Spring Valley/Plum City seems to have a formula to beat Pepin-Alma.

For the third time in as many years Spring Grove/Plum City beat the Eagles 5-3 in Spring Grove. This time it came without either team recording an earned run.

Pepin-Alma (16-3, 14-1 Dunn-St. Croix) and Spring Valley/Plum City combined for seven errors. Spring Valley/Plum City scored three runs in the third inning after the Eagles committed an error with two outs.

In the sixth inning Pepin-Alma loaded the bases with an intentional walk and had an 0-2 count when Spring Valley/Plum City came up with a double to score the winning runs.

Breanna Ellison had 12 strikeouts and three walks, two intentional, in the loss for the Eagles.

Pepin-Alma faces Elmwood Monday in Alma.
