The Red Wing boys swimming and diving team continued to build off its True Team State meet Thursday with a dominating 98-83 victory over Shakopee at Twin Bluff Middle School in Red Wing.

The Wingers captured victories in 10 of the 12 events and set 59 best times, head coach Gene Petersen said. Red Wing swept all three relay events while mixing up its lineup to give swimmers a chance to swim some different strokes.

"It was nice to see the guys swim some different strokes and they did well," Petersen said.

Tanner Alms won all four events he swam, including the 100-yard backstroke in a time under the state qualifying time. Connor O'Keefe won the 50 freestyle despite not having swam the event for a few seasons, Petersen said. Andrew Berg came up with a win in the 200 freestyle.

The Wingers did not place a swimmer lower than fifth in any event against the Sabers.

Red Wing cut significant time in events across the board. Adam Sienczak cut three seconds to finish second in the 100 back. Josh Berg dropped 1.5 seconds in the 100 fly and Calvin Roth placed fifth in the event. Both finished under section qualifying times. Ethan Myers cut two seconds in the 100 free and Anthony Gallo dropped three seconds in the 100 breaststroke.

The Wingers host an invitational today at 10 a.m. at Twin Bluff.
