UPDATED: Area track and field: Ristow places second at state

Ellsworth sophomore Alex Campbell competes in the Division 2 high jump Saturday. He cleared 6 feet, 0 inches and tied for 12th place.

Ellsworth junior Abbey Ristow finished second in the discus Saturday at the Division 2 Track & Field State Championships. Her best throw measured 128 feet, 7 inches.

Ristow's toss bettered her own school record by three feet.

"She had a wonderful, wonderful, great second experience at state," Ellsworth boys coach Shalene Huth said.

Heather Clankie, a junior from Brodhead/Juda, won the event on the campus of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a toss of 129-3.

Thanks to the eight points Ristow scored, Ellsworth tied for 35th in the girls standings.

Lydia Kuhl, a Panthers junior, placed ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.95. She shaved .13 seconds off her time from prelims Friday.

Ellsworth sophomore Alex Campbell cleared 6-0 and tied for 12th in the boys high jump.
