Area softball: Ellsworth 10, Amery 4

Elsworth exploded for nine first-inning runs and won Monday at home.

"We hit the snot out of the ball, then we just kind of relaxed I guess and (stopped) hitting the snot out of the ball," Panthers coach Ryan Casper said.

Allison Freier pitched the first three innings. She struck out three, walked four and allowed three unearned runs.

Kayla Christopherson went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Ellsworth and Amery will meet again on Thursday in opening-round play of the regional tournament.

The Panthers (11-6 overall, 10-3 Middle Border Conference) will host the game.
