Girls hockey: Wingers give up seven goals, lose

Chaska/Chanhassen scored six straight goals Tuesday en route to a 7-2 victory over Red Wing at Prairie Island Arena.

"I felt that the first and third periods were OK, just a bit of a letdown in the second," Red Wing coach Scott Haley said.

The Wingers allowed four goals in the second period.

Red Wing goalie Lisa Nibbe played the first two periods and turned away 15 of the 20 shots she faced. Quinn McGough played the final period and made 10 saves. McGough allowed two goals.

"It's not like we played a terrible, terrible game by any stretch of the imagination," Haley said. "We're generating shots, we're generating offenses, territorially we are really competitive. ... We just need to have a high goals-to-shots ratio."

Paige Haley scored both of Red Wing's goals in the third period.

Red Wing (6-8-1) will travel to New Prague on Friday.
