Area amateur baseball: Hager City 5, Cannon Falls 3

Game recap: The Skeeters capitalized on two Bears errors in the eighth inning to earn the win in Hager City on Tuesday.

"They're always a quality team," Skeeters player/manager Cory Brathall said. "We're a young team and we're starting to get some consistency now; hopefully we can build on that and it can snowball the right way for us."

Difference maker: Hager City got two base runners on via Cannon Falls errors in the eighth and they moved up to second and third on a passed ball. Cody Furlong knocked in both runners to secure the win.

Top players: Greg Peters earned the win for Hager City by pitching one scoreless inning in relief. Darren Georgakas started for the Skeeters and pitched seven innings of five-hit ball. Chase Melstrom went 2-for-3 for Hager City. Luke Winchell went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run for Cannon Falls.
