EHS golfers qualify for sectional meet

OSCEOLA - For the first time since 2006 the Ellsworth High School boys' golf team will be competing at sectionals. The Panthers qualified after finishing fourth in today's WIAA Division 2 regional played at Krooked Kreek Golf Course.

EHS shot a combined score of 351. The host Chieftains won the meet with a score of 324 followed by Somerset 337 and Amery 350.

Ellsworth had two scores in the 80s as Emery Whalen shot an 82 while Mike Tingelhoff shot an 87. Christyian Kulow finished with a 90 for the Panthers while Bryce Stein shot a 92 and Kyle Kurrelmeyer a 93.

The top four schools plus the top four golfers on an non-qualifying team also make it to the sectional meet, which will be played next Wednesday at Turtleback Golf Course in Rice Lake. Also qualifying were Unity's Evan Lunda, Cumberland's Peyton Green and Durand's Jake Winter and Ben Weber.
