Ellsworth girls can't top River Falls

RIVER FALLS - The River Falls High School girls basketball team ended Ellsworth's winning streak as quickly as it started in a 48-39 win Saturday.

Despite the loss the Panthers showed its continual improves since the start of the season. The Panthers, 2-16 overall, led the Wildcats 21-18 at halftime. However the 'Cats, 6-12 overall, surged in front, 29-28 to start the fourth quarter where they outscored Ellsworth 19-11.

Kelsey Betthauser had 12 points and teammate Tacia Kuhl finished with nine points and Chelsey Strom scored six points. River Fall's Lexi Kohtek's 16 points led all scorers.

Ellsworth is back in action Monday at home vs. Lake City, Minn.
