EPC girls edge out Spring Valley to win D-SC meet title

BOYCEVILLE - Pierce County had the two best girls track and field teams in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference at Tuesday's meet and it came down to the final event to decide the league championship.

In the 1600-meter relay the Elmwood/Plum City girls team of Marah Boyer, Heather Von Holtum, Kaitlyn Lee and Elaina Danzinger won in a time of 4:16 to secure first place in the D-SC meet with 130 points to Spring Valley's 119. St. Croix Central was third.

The EPC wins its first ever conference title as a co-op and its the first ever title for both schools in girls track.

Spring Valley was led by triple champion Breanna Colbenson who won the 800, 1600 and 3200-meter runs. Other SV champs were sprinter Sam O'Brien in the 100-meter dash and Molly Green in the long jump.

In the boys' meet, Spring Valley finished fourth and EPC was eight-team field (Alma/Pepin participates in the Dairyland Conference for track.) Conner Sieracki won the 3200-meter run for the Cardinals and Kyle Bosshart won the long jump
