Letter: Join the Lions in singing 'Jeeper, Creepers'
Ribs 'n' Bibs used to be the biggest thing for the Red Wing Lions every year, but this year there is something a lot bigger. For the celebration of 100 years of Lions clubs, two of the biggest things that you have ever seen are coming to Colvill Park on June 25.
Sometimes the commonplace needs to be blown out of proportion in order to get some attention. Next Sunday, the Lions Club is doing just that by unveiling a sculpture of giant eyeglasses called: "Spectacles" to remind people to recycle eyeglasses because they can be reused.
If you wear glasses, you can't forget the first time that the world came magically into focus. That is the same magic that you can share by bringing down some used eyeglasses to the park. By adding them to a spectacular mountain of 30,000 glasses, you can get a free ticket and enter to win a pair of prescription eyeglasses.
This is going to be a family-friendly community get-together with food, fun, and live music. Meals start at just $4. And, can't you just imagine hearing "Jeepers, creepers, where'd you get those giant peepers?" sung live?
Over the years, I've cooked most of the ribs for Ribs 'n' Bibs, but this year, while we are still cooking, we're focusing on what we've been doing for 100 years: "We Serve" so others can see ... we hope to see you next Sunday at Colvill Park.
