Letter: Pay attention when sirens sound on Thursday

To the editor:

Goodhue County Emergency Management wants to let the citizens of Goodhue County know that the week of April 17-21 is Minnesota Severe Weather Awareness Week. This is a great opportunity to talk with your family and co-workers about preparing for and responding during severe weather.

On Thursday, April 20, there are two statewide tornado drills scheduled where the sirens in your community will be activated by Goodhue County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center staff. It will give businesses and families the opportunity to practice a tornado drill and go to the designated safe shelter. The first drill will be at 1:45 p.m. and the second at 6:45 p.m.

If you haven't signed up for CodeRED Weather Alerts, go to the county's website and sign up: www.co.goodhue.mn.us. Or contact our office and we'll be happy to help you get signed up.

Plan ahead and stay safe!
